Mera Naam Joker Movie Facts :
1) Raj Kapoor invested all his money to make this film. He even had his house mortgaged. But the film was not a box office hit and Raj Kapoor also suffered a lot.
2) Mera Naam Joker was a very long film of 4 hours and 4 minutes and this film was also the longest film of that time. And it took 6 years to make this film.
3) Due to being a longer film, 2 intervals were placed in this film. This was Raj Kapoor’s second film, which had 2 intervals. before this film, Sangam also had 2 intervals.
4) Rishi Kapoor made his Bollywood debut with this film, although he was not in the lead role in this film. As a lead actor, he made his debut in the film Bobby.
5) Manoj Kumar did not like Dialogues while shooting a scene. So he wrote the dialogues of that scene himself and then showed those dialogues to Raj Kapoor. Raj Kapoor was very happy to read the dialogues and had asked Manoj Kumar to write more dialogues for his own scenes.
6) When this film was released, it could not do perform well at the box office. But later the film became Cult Classic.
7) The film was released in 1972 in the Soviet Union in 3 parts, and all three parts made a tremendous amount there. By combining all three parts, Mera Naam Joker collected 16.80 crores in the Soviet Union, and the film proved to be a blockbuster there.
8) On 16 September 2017, a dance reality show set on fire. Due to which R.K Studio was badly burnt. Many valuable items and costumes of Raj Kapoor were also burnt. In the same studio, the Joker mask of the film My Name Joker and the clothes of the Joker were also burnt.
9) Padmini played the role of Meenu in this film and this film was his last film. After this, she came back from the 1982 film Dard Ka Rishta, but after this film, he did not work in any Bollywood film.
10) After this film, Rishi Kapoor and Simi Garewal appeared 10 years later in the 1980 film Karz.
11) A few more songs were also written for this film. But the film was already long, so Raj Kapoor did not keep those songs in this film. Raj Kapoor was going to put those songs in the next parts of Mera Naam Joker. But after my name Joker was flopped, Raj Kapoor cancelled the idea of making another part of it.
12) Sadhna and Sharmila Tagore were to appear in the second part of the film Mera Naam Joker. But the second part was not made due to the first part being a flop.
मेरा नाम जोकर फिल्म से जुड़ी कुछ अनसुनी बातें :
1) इस फिल्म को बनाने के लिए राज कपूर ने अपने सारे पैसे लगा दिए थे. यहाँ तक की उन्होंने अपना घर भी गिरवी रखवा दिया था. लेकिन फिल्म बॉक्स ऑफिस हिट नहीं हो पायी थी और राज कपूर को काफी घाटा भी हुआ था.
2) मेरा नाम जोकर 4 घंटे 4 मिनट की बहुत लम्बी फिल्म थी और ये फिल्म उस समय की भी सबसे ज्यादा लम्बी फिल्म थी. और इस फिल्म को बनने में 6 साल का समय लगा था.
3) ज्यादा लम्बी फिल्म होने के कारण इस फिल्म में 2 इंटरवल रखे गए थे. ये राज कपूर की दूसरी फिल्म थी जिसमे 2 इंटरवल थे, इससे पहले उनकी फिल्म संगम में भी 2 इंटरवल रखे गए थे.
4) इस फिल्म से ऋषि कपूर ने बॉलीवुड में अपना डेब्यू किया था हालाँकि वे इस फिल्म में लीड रोल में नहीं थे. लीड एक्टर के रूप में उन्होंने अपना डेब्यू बॉबी फिल्म से किया था.
5) एक सीन की शूटिंग के समय मनोज कुमार को डॉयलोग्स पसंद नहीं आये थे. इसलिए उन्होंने अपने उस सीन के डॉयलोग्स खुद ही लिखे और फिर वो डॉयलोग्स को उन्होंने राज कपूर को दिखाया. राज कपूर वो डॉयलोग्स पढ़कर बहुत खुश हुए और उन्होंने मनोज कुमार को उनके खुद के सीन्स के लिए और भी डॉयलोग्स लिखने को बोला था.
6) जब ये फिल्म रिलीज़ हुयी थी तब बॉक्स ऑफिस में कुछ ख़ास कमाल नहीं कर पायी थी. लेकिन बाद में यही फिल्म कल्ट क्लासिक बन गयी.
7) इस फिल्म को 1972 में सोवियत यूनियन में 3 भागों में रिलीज़ किया गया था, और तीनो ही पार्ट्स ने वहां जबरदस्त कमाई की थी. तीनो भागों को मिलाकर मेरा नाम जोकर ने सोवियत यूनियन में 16.80 करोड़ का कलेक्शन किया था, और फिल्म वहां ब्लॉकबस्टर साबित हुयी थी.
8) 16 सितम्बर 2017 में एक डांस रियलिटी शो के सेट्स में आग लग गयी थी. जिसके कारण R.K स्टूडियो बुरी तरह से जल गयी थी. राज कपूर के बहुत से कीमती सामान और कॉस्ट्यूमस भी जल गए थे. उसी स्टूडियो में मेरा नाम जोकर फिल्म का जोकर मास्क और जोकर के रखे कपड़े भी जल गए थे.
9) इस फिल्म में पद्मिनी ने मीनू का रोल निभाया था और ये फिल्म उनकी आखरी फिल्म थी. इसके बाद उन्होंने सन 1982 में आयी फिल्म दर्द का रिश्ता से कमबैक किया था, लेकिन इस फिल्म के बाद उन्होंने कोई भी बॉलीवुड फिल्म में काम नहीं किया.
10) इस फिल्म के बाद ऋषि कपूर और सिमी गरेवाल 10 साल बाद 1980 में आयी फिल्म क़र्ज़ में नज़र आये थे.
11) इस फिल्म के लिए कुछ और गाने भी लिखे गए थे. लेकिन फिल्म पहले ही लम्बा हो चूका था इसलिए राज कपूर ने इस फिल्म में उन गानों को नहीं रखा था. राज कपूर उन गानों को मेरा नाम जोकर के अगले पार्ट्स में रखने वाले थे. पर मेरा नाम जोकर के फ्लॉप होने के बाद राज कपूर ने इसके दूसरे पार्ट बनाने का आईडिया कैंसिल कर दिया था.
12) साधना और शर्मीला टैगोर मेरा नाम जोकर फिल्म के दूसरे पार्ट में नज़र आने वाले थे. लेकिन पहले पार्ट के फ्लॉप होने के कारण ही इसका दूसरा पार्ट नहीं बनाया गया था.
