Sholay Movie Unknown Facts :
1) Javed Akhtar did not like Amjad Khan’s voice. Therefore, he wanted to remove Amjad Khan from this film. But he was not removed because of his look.
2) Before Amjad Khan, his role was offered to Danny Denzongpa. But then he was busy shooting for the film Dharmatma in Afghanistan. So he refused to act in this film.
3) It was the first film in India that was released in more than 100 theaters. It was also the first film in India to have celebrated the Silver Jubilee.
4) The idea of Jai and Viru came to Salim Khan from his college friends Virender Singh and Jai Singh Rathore.
5) Sanjeev Kumar wanted to play the role of Gabbar Singh in this film. But Ramesh Sippy refused him, as he was not exactly freezing in Gabbar Singh’s role.
6) Despite Sholay being such a big blockbuster, he won just one award for Best Editor at the Filmfare Awards.
7) In this film, Mushtaq Merchant played two roles. In this film, he played the role of a train driver in the famous train scene and he played the role of a Parsi. Whose motorcycle Jai Veeru initially runs.
8) In this film, Gabbar kills Thakur’s family. This scene was copied from the film ‘Once Upon a Time in the West’. Which was released in 1968.
9) Sanjeev Kumar proposed Hema Malini for marriage before the shooting of this film started. But Hema Malini rejected him. Therefore, no scenes were kept of Sanjeev Kumar and Hema Malini together in this film.
10) The film was shot in Ramanagaram, Bangalore. After Ramesh Sippy’s Sholay, this place also came to be called Sippy Nagar.
11) In this film, the scene of Veeru’s suicide threat by climbing into a water tank. That scene was taken from the real life incident.
12) There was the famous train scene in the film. It took 20 days to film that scene. The scene was filmed in the Mumbai Pune line, opposite Panvel.
13) The film was re-released in 3D in 2014. The budget of this film in 3D was 25 crores and this film collected 12 crores at the box office. The third biggest film in Bollywood history proved to be a disaster in 3D version.
14) Gabbar Singh’s character was so famous that the Britannia company had a commercial with Amjad Khan eating biscuits. This was the first time that a company had resorted to Villain for the publicity of a product. After this commercial, the sell of Britannia Biscuits also increased a lot.
15) Sachin did not charge any fees for this film. When the film was a huge success, Ramesh Sippy gifted a fridge to Sachin.
16) There was a real dacoit named Gabbar Singh in Gwalior in the 50s. Who used to cut the nose and ears of the policemen.
17) In almost 80 percent of the scenes in this film, Dharmendra was seen without makeup.
18) Before Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha was to play the role of Jai in this film. But at the behest of Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan was taken in this film. When Dharmendra received the Lifetime Achievement Award at IIFA. Then Amitabh Bachchan gave him the award and then he was also called Thank You to dharmendra. Amitabh Bachchan himself said at the same time that it was because of Dharmendra that he got the film Sholay.
19) This film is still at number three in the list of Top Footfalls of All Time. The film had a total of more than 10 million tickets sold.
20) The film was getting less audience for the first 2 weeks. Due to which the makers wanted to re-release the film after making some changes. They was planning to keep Amitabh Bachchan alive in this film. But from the third week itself, the film caught pace. Many shows of the film were starting to be housefull. After which the makers changed their intention to make changes in the film.
21) In this film, Mac Mohan played a small role of Sambha. Still he had to travel from Bombay to Bangalore 27 times.
22) It was the second 70mm and stereophonic sound film in India. But this film was so successful that people consider it to be the first 70mm film. While the first film with 70mm was Raj Kapoor’s ‘Around the World’. Which was released in 1967.
23) After the completion of the entire shooting of this film, the character of Surma Bhopali was added to this film. Scenes of Surma Bhopali were shot at the very last.
24) Surma Bhopali’s character was so popular that even in 1988, a film called Surma Bhopali came out. In which Jagdeep appeared and he also played Bhopali’s role in Andaz Apna Apna.
25) On the day of the Sita and Geeta film success party, Ramesh Sippy had planned to make an action film with Dharmendra and Hema Malini. It was from here that Ramesh Sippy got the idea to make a Sholay film.
26) In 2007, Ram Gopal Varma remake the film Sholay. Whose title was “aag”. The film proved to be a huge disaster at the box office. In 2015, Ram Gopal Varma had to pay a fine of 10 lakhs to remake the Sholay film without permission.
27) The film Sholay was telecast for the first time on Doordarshan on 15 August 1996, the day of Sholay’s 21st anniversary. When the film was running in TV. At that time the entire road was empty. Because everyone was watching the movie Sholay.
28) On the day Sholay premiered, Salim Khan had come drunk and was abusing Amjad Khan. Then Amitabh Bachchan came in the middle to stop Salim Khan. The next day Salim Khan apologized to Amjad Khan for his actions.
29) This film was signed by Amitabh Bachchan before the release of Zanjeer film.
30) In the climax of the original version of the film Sholay, Thakur kills Gabbar Singh. But when this version went to the censor board, then they did not pass it. He had asked to change the climax because the film had more violence. The film’s climax was then changed.
31) The film was released on Independence Day and clashed with the film Jai Santoshi Maa. Both films proved to be an all-time blockbuster at the box office.
32) Salim Khan wanted to keep the title Angaarey of this film first. But in the end he changed the title of this film to Sholay.
33) Hema Malini’s body double was Reshma in this film. During the shooting of a scene, he suffered a lot of injuries due to turning the Taanga. Still she returned in a few days and started shooting.

शोले फिल्म से जुड़ी कुछ अनसुनी बातें ( Facts in HIndi ) :
1) जावेद अख्तर को अमजद खान की आवाज़ पसंद नहीं आयी थी. इसलिए वे इस फिल्म से अमजद खान को हटवाना चाहते थे. लेकिन उनके लुक के कारण उन्हें नहीं हटाया गया था.
2) अमजद खान से पहले उनका रोल डैनी डेंज़ोंग्पा को ऑफर हुआ था. लेकिन तब वे अफगानिस्तान में धर्मात्मा फिल्म की शूटिंग में व्यस्त थे. इसलिए उन्होंने इस फिल्म में काम करने से मना कर दिया था.
3) ये भारत की पहली ऐसी फिल्म थी जिसे 100 से भी ज्यादा थिएटर्स में रिलीज़ किया गया था. ये भारत की पहली ऐसी फिल्म भी थी जिसने सिल्वर जुबली सेलिब्रेट किया था.
4) जय और वीरू के नाम का आईडिया सलीम खान को अपने कॉलेज के दोस्त वीरेंदर सिंह और जय सिंह राठौड़ से आया था.
5) संजीव कुमार इस फिल्म में गब्बर सिंह का रोल निभाना चाहते थे. लेकिन रमेश सिप्पी ने उन्हें मना कर दिया था, क्योंकि वे गब्बर सिंह के रोल में बिलकुल जम नहीं रहे थे.
6) शोले इतनी बड़ी ब्लॉकबस्टर होने के वावजूद भी फिल्मफेयर अवार्ड में बस एक बेस्ट एडिटर का ही अवार्ड जीत पायी थी.
7) इस फिल्म में मुश्ताक़ मर्चेंट ने दो रोल निभाए थे. उन्होंने इस फिल्म में फेमस ट्रैन वाले सीन में ट्रैन ड्राइवर का रोल निभाया था और दूसरा उन्होंने पारसी का रोल निभाया था. जिसकी मोटरसाइकिल लेकर जय वीरू शुरू में भागते हैं.
8) इस फिल्म में गब्बर सिंह जैसे ठाकुर की फॅमिली को मारते हैं. इस सीन को ‘ वन्स अपॉन अ टाइम इन द वेस्ट ‘ फिल्म से कॉपी किया गया था. जो सन 1968 में रिलीज़ हुयी थी.
9) संजीव कुमार ने इस फिल्म की शूटिंग शुरू होने से पहले हेमा मालिनी को शादी के लिए प्रोपोज़ किया था. लेकिन हेमा मालिनी ने उन्हें रिजेक्ट कर दिया था. इसलिए इस फिल्म में संजीव कुमार और हेमा मालिनी का साथ में कोई भी सीन नहीं रखा गया था.
10) इस फिल्म की शूटिंग को बैंगलोर के रामनगरम में किया गया था. रमेश सिप्पी की शोले के बाद इस जगह को सिप्पी नगर भी कहा जाने लगा.
11) इस फिल्म में वीरू का जो पानी टंकी में चढ़कर सुसाइड करने की धमकी देने वाला सीन था. वो सीन रियल लाइफ घटना से लिया गया था.
12) इस फिल्म में जो फेमस ट्रैन वाला सीन था. उस सीन को फिल्माने में 20 दिन का समय लगा था. इस सीन को मुंबई पुणे लाइन में फिल्माया गया था, जो पनवेल के सामने था.
13) सन 2014 में इस फिल्म को थ्रीडी में फिर से रिलीज़ किया गया था. थ्रीडी में इस फिल्म का बजट 25 करोड़ था और इस फिल्म ने बॉक्स ऑफिस में 12 करोड़ का कलेक्शन किया था. बॉलीवुड इतिहास की तीसरी सबसे बड़ी फिल्म शोले थ्रीडी वर्शन में डिजास्टर साबित हुयी थी.
14) गब्बर सिंह का करैक्टर इतना फेमस हुआ था की ब्रिटानिया कंपनी ने अमजद खान से बिस्कुट खाते हुए एक कमर्शियल कराया था. ये पहली बार हुआ था जब किसी कंपनी ने प्रोडक्ट की पब्लिसिटी के लिए विलेन का सहारा लिया था. इस कमर्शियल के बाद ब्रिटानिया बिस्कुट का सेल भी काफी ज्यादा बढ़ गया था.
15) इस फिल्म के लिए सचिन ने कोई भी फीस नहीं ले थी. जब फिल्म को जबरदस्त सफलता मिली थी, तब रमेश सिप्पी ने सचिन को एक फ्रिज गिफ्ट किया था.
16) 50 के दशक में ग्वालियर में गब्बर सिंह नाम का एक सच में डकैत था. जो पुलिसवालों की नाक और कान काट दिया करता था.
17) इस फिल्म के लगभग 80 प्रतिशत सीन्स में धर्मेंद्र बिना मेकअप के नज़र आये थे.
18) अमिताभ बच्चन से पहले इस फिल्म में शत्रुघ्न सिन्हा जय का रोल निभाने वाले थे. लेकिन धर्मेंद्र के कहने पर ही अमिताभ बच्चन को इस फिल्म में लिया गया था. जब धर्मेंद्र को आइफा में लाइफटाइम अचीवमेंट अवार्ड मिला था. तब अमिताभ बच्चन ने ही उन्हें अवार्ड दिया था और तब उन्हें थैंक यू भी कहा था. अमिताभ बच्चन ने उसी समय खुद कहा था की धर्मेंद्र के कारण ही उन्हें शोले फिल्म में काम मिला था.
19) ये फिल्म टॉप फुटफॉल्स ऑफ़ आल टाइम की लिस्ट में अब भी तीसरे नंबर पर बनी हुयी है. इस फिल्म के कुल 10 करोड़ से भी ज्यादा टिकट्स बीके थे.
20) इस फिल्म को शुरुआती 2 हफ़्तों तक कम ऑडियंस मिल रही थी. जिससे मेकर्स इस फिल्म में कुछ बदलाव कर के फिर से रिलीज़ करना चाहते थे. वे इस फिल्म में अमिताभ बच्चन को ज़िंदा रखने का प्लान कर रहे थे. लेकिन तीसरे हफ्ते से ही फिल्म ने रफ़्तार पकड़ी थी. फिल्म के कई शोज हॉउसफुल होने लगे थे. जिसके बाद मेकर्स ने इस फिल्म में बदलाव करने का अपना इरादा बदल दिया था.
21) इस फिल्म में मैक मोहन ने संभा का छोटा सा रोल निभाया था. फिर भी उन्हें बॉम्बे से बैंगलोर 27 बार ट्रेवल करना पड़ा था.
22) ये भारत की दूसरी 70mm एंड स्टीरियोफोनिक साउंड वाली फिल्म थी. लेकिन ये फिल्म इतनी सक्सेस हुयी थी की लोग इसे ही पहली 70mm वाली फिल्म समझते हैं. जबकि 70mm वाली पहली फिल्म राज कपूर की ‘ अराउंड द वर्ल्ड ‘ थी. जो सन 1967 में रिलीज़ हुयी थी.
23) इस फिल्म की पूरी शूटिंग ख़त्म होने के बाद सूरमा भोपाली का ये करैक्टर इस फिल्म में एड किया गया था. सूरमा भोपाली वाले सीन्स की शूटिंग सबसे आखरी में की गयी थी.
24) सूरमा भोपाली का करैक्टर इतना पॉपुलर हुआ था की सन 1988 में भी सूरमा भोपाली नाम से एक फिल्म आयी थी. जिसमे जगदीप ही नज़र आये थे और जगदीप ने अंदाज़ अपना अपना फिल्म में भी भोपाली का रोल निभाया था.
25) सीता और गीता फिल्म की सक्सेस पार्टी के दिन ही रमेश सिप्पी ने धर्मेंद्र और हेमा मालिनी को लेकर एक एक्शन फिल्म बनाने का प्लान किया था. यहीं से रमेश सिप्पी को शोले फिल्म बनाने का आईडिया मिला था.
26) सन 2007 में राम गोपाल वर्मा ने शोले फिल्म का रीमेक बनाया था. जिसका टाइटल ” आग ” रखा गया था. ये फिल्म बॉक्स ऑफिस में बहुत बड़ी डिजास्टर साबित हुयी थी. सन 2015 में राम गोपाल वर्मा को बिना पर्मिसन के शोले फिल्म का रीमेक बनाने के लिए 10 लाख का फाइन भी भरना पड़ा था.
27) 15 अगस्त 1996 को शोले की 21वी एनिवर्सरी के दिन दूरदर्शन पर पहली बार शोले फिल्म को टेलीकास्ट किया गया था. जिस समय ये फिल्म टीवी में चल रही थी. उस समय पूरा रोड़ खाली हो गया था. क्योंकि सभी शोले फिल्म देख रहे थे.
28) जिस दिन शोले का प्रीमियर था उस दिन सलीम खान शराब पीकर आये थे और अमजद खान से बदतमीज़ी कर रहे थे. फिर अमिताभ बच्चन बीच में आकर सलीम खान को रोकने लगे थे. अगले दिन सलीम खान ने अपनी उस हरकत के लिए अमजद खान से माफ़ी मांगी थी.
29) इस फिल्म को अमिताभ बच्चन ने ज़ंजीर फिल्म के रिलीज़ होने से पहले साइन की थी.
30) शोले फिल्म के ओरिजिनल वर्शन के क्लाइमेक्स में ठाकुर गब्बर सिंह को मार देते हैं. लेकिन जब ये वर्शन सेंसर बोर्ड वालों के पास गया था, तब उन्होंने इसे पास नहीं किया था. उन्होंने क्लाइमेक्स चेंज करने को कहा था क्योंकि फिल्म में ज्यादा वायलेंस हो गया था. फिर इस फिल्म के क्लाइमेक्स को चेंज कर दिया गया था.
31) ये फिल्म स्वतंत्र दिवस के दिन रिलीज़ हुयी थी और जय संतोषी माँ फिल्म के साथ क्लैश हुयी थी. दोनों ही फिल्मे बॉक्स ऑफिस में आल टाइम ब्लॉकबस्टर साबित हुयी थी.
32) सलीम खान इस फिल्म का टाइटल पहले अंगारे रखना चाहते थे. लेकिन अंत में उन्होंने इस फिल्म का टाइटल बदलकर शोले रखा था.
33) रेशमा इस फिल्म में हेमा मालिनी की बॉडी डबल बनी हुयी थी. एक सीन की शूटिंग के दौरान टांगा पलटने से उनको काफी चोट लगी थी. फिर भी वे कुछ ही दिन में लौट आयी थी और शूटिंग भी शुरू कर दी थी.
34) ये फिल्म संजीव कुमार, हेमा मालिनी और धर्मेंद्र की साथ में दूसरी फिल्म थी. इससे पहले तीनो सीता और गीता फिल्म में नज़र आये थे.
